County meeting set

The Obion County Legislative Body will meet 9 a.m. May 16 at the Obion County Courthouse circuit courtroom in Union City.
Items on the agenda include the approval of minutes from the April 2011 meeting; farm lease contracts for Everett-Stewart Regional Airport and the Obion County Nursing Home; the 2010 Fire Protection and Safety Grant program; resolutions to participate in the Three-Star Program, to affirm compliance with Federal Title VI regulations, to adopt the Strategic Economic Development Plan, to amend the General Fund ($6,815); to authorize an application for a Litter and Trash Collecting gran and to adopt a continuing budget and tax rate for fiscal year beginning July 1; approval of the release of the 2009 county taxes; information concerning the Capital Outlay Note approved March 21; a report from the Delinquent Tax Committee; a financial report for the Indigent Care Trust Fund; approval of a surety bond for Highway Superintendent Gary Lofton; and the approval of notary public applications.
Also considered will be appointments to the following boards and committees:
• Library Board — now serving is Brenda Baker;
• Regional Library Board — Obion County representative is Mike Cox;
• Nursing Home Board – now serving are Janis Lacewell, Dr. Bobby Williams, Tracey Batey, Earnest Daniels, Timmy Gant, Terry Council and Sonny Yarbrough;
• West Tennessee Railroad Authority – now serving are Art Chivers and Mayor Benny McGuire
