Westview FFA students receive awards

 Jesi Ogg of Westview High School received the 2011 DEKALB Agricultural Accomplishment Award. She was recently presented the school’s highest agricultural honor sponsored by the Monsanto Company.
Jesi Ogg, the daughter of Sammy and Cheryl Ogg of Martin, received the award for excellence in academics, leadership and agricultural work experience. Jesi’s significant experiences and accomplishments have included being chapter President as well as competing in several local, regional and state competitions.
She has attended both State and National FFA conventions as delegates. She was also responsible for hosting the National FFA Officers at the High School.  Kaine Winstead received the 2011 DEKALB Agricultural Accomplishment Award. He was recently presented the school’s highest agricultural honor sponsored by the Monsanto Company.  Kaine Winstead, the son of Mark and Dawn Winstead of Martin, received the award for excellence in academics, leadership and agricultural work experience.
Kaine’s significant experiences and accomplishments have included being chapter President as well as competing in several local, regional and state competitions. He has attended both State and National FFA conventions as delegates. He was also responsible for hosting the National FFA Officers at the High School.  Bill Fuqua is the agricultural education instructor at Westview High School.  This year the DEKALB Agricultural Accomplishment Award celebrates its sixty-fourth anniversary. Over these 64 years more than 166,000 high school seniors from across the country have received the Award, which has become a symbol for excellence and the school’s highest agricultural honor. In 2010, over 2,000 students from high school’s in 49 of the 50 states were recognized with the Award.  As the winner of the 2011 Award, Jesi’s name will be recorded on a permanent plaque displayed at Westview High School. Monsanto, a long-tome supporter of agricultural education, FFA, 4-H and other farm youth organizations and initiatives, sponsors the DEKALB Agricultural Accomplishment Award.
