UTM soccer slate
released to public
UT Martin women’s soccer coach Phil McNamara released his team’s 2011 fall schedule.
The 2011 schedule includes teams from seven different conferences, excluding a preseason date at Southeastern Conference member Ole Miss on Aug. 12. Also included is the normal Ohio Valley Conference rotation with the addition of SIU Edwardsville, who will officially be included in league competition in 2011.
“This is a great schedule,” said McNamara, who guided the Skyhawks to an 8-8-2 record in his debut season in 2010. “Every opponent is extremely competitive and will prove an exciting challenge for our young squad. I feel the schedule has a nice balance to it, including quality, style of play of opponents and home/away fixtures.”
Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Georgia State, Missouri State, Lipscomb, Arkansas State, Middle Tennessee, Miami of Ohio, Wright State and Evansville are UTM’s non-conference opponents.

Bethel guard Jasper
picked by NFL’s Bills
Bethel’s Michael Jasper was drafted Saturday in the seventh round of the NFL Draft by the Buffalo Bills.
The 6-foot-4, 390-pound offensive guard from Mt. Juliet was the 245th pick of the draft.
Japer tipped the scales at 430 pounds last season as a senior with the Wildcat football program.
Jasper ran a 5.38 forty at his “Pro Day” at 394 pounds.
He is reportedly down to 378 pounds now.
Jasper, who originally committed to Ole Miss, also had a stint at UT Martin. While with the Skyhawks, he was converted from a defensive lineman to an offensive guard.
