For the third straight season, the Greenfield girls’ tennis team finished without a blemish on its record. The Lady Yellowjackets blanked Huntingdon 7-0 on Wednesday to claim their 38th consecutive regular-season match victory and their 10th of this campaign.

“It has been a pleasant surprise to see this group of girls pick up where we left off last year,” G’field co-

head coach Teresa McCall said, while noting that the squad has zero seniors this season. “I’m really proud of the girls because they’ve put in a lot of hard work to get to this point.”

On Wednesday, top Lady Twister Emily Allen made short work of Huntingdon’s Sam Milam in an 8-1 win. Meanwhile, lone G’field upper classman Taylor Hatcher — a junior — bested Lady Fillie Caroline

Parish 8-3. Third-seeded Lady Yellowjacket Kendal Cook won by a like margin over Ashley Ward, while No. 4 seed Kaylee Kesterson also prevailed 8-3 over Jasmine Colon.

Greenfield fifth seed Callie Croom bettered Huntingdon’s Kayla White 8-2.

In doubles play, Allen and Hatcher defeated Milan and Parish 8-2, while Cook and Kesterson downed Colon

and Ward 8-1. G’field will return to action on Saturday at the District 13A-AA Individuals Tournament at

Bethel University. Coaches met today to draw up the bracket.
