We had a special Easter at our facility with lots of fun activities and worship services.
The residents helped stuff plastic Easter eggs full of candy on Wednesday morning. They always enjoy helping in this task especially when they get to see all the children dashing for the eggs at our annual Easter egg hunt. It was held on Saturday morning and many of the residents watched from the front porches and the lobby areas.
We had our Spring Fling party on Friday and the residents were delighted with fresh fruit dream pies and pink lemonade. It was a delicious treat. Our Easter morning services were held by Liberty Church of Christ and Dresden First Baptist Church. Adams Chapel Baptist Church provided our afternoon services on this special day. We are so thankful to each of you for taking time out and making this a special holiday for our facility.
We have also had three great musical performances. Friends of Carmen Kelley, Martha Hayes and Friends, and The Bill Brewer Family each did an outstanding job. The residents love live music and getting to sing along with the talented guests.
Aside from our Easter Sunday services. The residents also had Dresden First United Methodist Church, Bro. Tom Spellings, and Siloam Baptist Church with us on their respective dates. They always do a remarkable job and bring ease of worship to our residents. Thank you all.
Our lucky Cover Card winners were Thyra Provine, Garl Winstead (3), Dorothy Farrar, Geneva Foster (2), Kathie Johnson, Dorothy Vitalo, Lillian Melton, Mignon Mayo, Sue Bailey, Vivian Edwards, Betty Parham, and Melba Saunders. For Thursday’s Bingo, each of the participants receives fifty cents and we play until everyone wins. We had a special Easter Bingo were Cover Card winners was increased and snacks given following the games.
The residents love junk food so we had as many opportunities as possible for them to get their fill. They had a special coffee break with powdered doughnuts and fresh coffee, social hour with iced cookies, specialty puddings and lemonade, and fresh popped popcorn from the facility machine. It was a yummy week for them.
Five lucky residents were the winners at the Price is Right. They received the item they were the closest to guessing its right price. The winners were Betty Parham, Barry Flowers, Mignon Mayo, Vivian Edwards, and Thyra Provine.
The residents also participated in various sports competitions and did exceptionally well. The winner of Touchdown was Ray Crowell. He also took first at Can Crash and Beanbag Toss. Obra Sims was the champion of Popcorn Toss. Dorothy Farrar took the victor at the Basketball Shootout and at Horseshoes. Thyra Provine finished off the winners’ circle by taking first at Top Toss. Congratulations to all our winners.
We have had two residents receive wishes from the Second Wind Dreams. Floyd Jones and Gay Ann Blakemore were delighted to be chosen. Ray and Sammi Stafford donated beautiful flowers for our front porch. The residents love having them brighten up the facility.
Oak Grove Church presented the residents with a monetary donation for the special activity fund.
