Plunk earns license

D.J. Plunk, 20, of Dresden, recently earned his funeral director’s and embalmer’s license. He graduated on Dec. 4, 2009 from John A. Gupton College of Mortuary Science in Nashville, where he received the Dodge Award for excellence in embalming.
He completed his one-year apprenticeship with Bowlin Funeral Home on March 22 and passed the Tennessee Laws, Rules and Regulations exam in Nashville April 7.
Plunk has been employed at Bowlin since June 2009. He is a 2008 graduate of Dresden High School and an active member of First Baptist Church in Dresden, where he teaches junior high Sunday school and also leads the junior high choir.
He is the son of Marty and Angie Plunk of Sharon and has one sister, Courtney, a Dresden High School student. His grandparents are Trella and the late James Plunk of Sharon and Judi Jones of Sharon.
Plunk has previously worked at McKenzie Funeral Home and Gallimore Funeral Home locally and also worked at Woodlawn – Roesch – Patton Funeral Home in Nashville.
