Our activities in Lighthouse Community began with an April birthday party. M. G. Carpenter turned 79 on April 1. Because his birthday was the only one in the community, we celebrated on April Fool’s Day. The party was held in the dining room. Everyone attended the event. Food served was cake and ice cream. Everyone had a good time. Happy birthday again M. G. and wishing you many more.
Another activity was our Easter Egg Hunt. I hid plastic eggs in the dining room, hallway and day room.
The residents were given a plastic bag and searched for the eggs. Thelma Wagster came in first place. She found 46 eggs. Josephine Brundige came in second place with 29 eggs and Versie Terrell came in third place with 17 eggs. Congratulations to all participants and the winners of the hunt. This activity helped the group to realize we are in the season of spring and that Easter was almost here.
On Easter Sunday, we celebrated with an Easter Sunday Brunch. Food was provided by the department managers who all prepared a dish. Food served at the brunch included egg casserole, banana nut bread, and sausage balls.
Our brunch was held in the dining room, which was decorated for the event. The food was delicious. Thanks to everyone who prepared a dish. We really appreciate all of your dedication and hard work.
This month’s activities ended with Straw Hat Month. It was celebrated Friday because this time of year is mostly known for people working in the yard wearing straw hats. The hat is worn in order to shield the sun while gardening, mowing the yard and other yard duties. To celebrate, we wore funny straw hats, ate brownies and drank juice.
