Retired teachers gather in Memphis | Obion County-Union City Retired Teachers Association

Obion County-Union City Retired Teachers Association president Alice Fennel and member Mary Dunavant recently attended the West Tennessee Retired Teachers Association meeting in Memphis.
The meeting was called to order by president Florestine Walton Evans. Doris Lewis gave the devotion. Noah Bond led the patriotic moments. Carla Cliff read the minutes and Sally Robinson gave the treasurer’s report. During the business meeting the constitution and by-laws of the association were passed. Officers for 2011-12 were elected.
A dutch treat lunch was served.
Mrs. Evans made several announcements and informed those in attendance the next meeting will be held in 2012.
Dr. J. Tyrone Alfred gave a program on wellness, including the three main things the body needs: water; nutrition at the top with water; and exercise. These three things came from his book, “Medical Handbook for the Layman.”
