Northwest Tennessee Development District and Human Resource Agency Executive Director John Bucy recently announced planned renovations and an expansion of the agency’s main facility at 124 Weldon Drive in Martin
The expansion will bring together about 38 employees of the agency under one roof.
Financing of $1.3 million for the project is being provided by First Citizens National Bank of Martin.
The United States Department of Agriculture Rural Development is providing a community facilities loan guarantee to the bank.
“Funds will be used to construct needed accessibility and energy efficiency improvements to our main office and add about 4,270 square feet of space needed to bring all 38 members of our staff under one roof,” Bucy said.
The NWTDD and HRA is an association of 47 municipalities and nine counties organized to advocate and promote economic and community development in the nine county region of northwest Tennessee.
“We appreciate the partnership between First Citizens and USDA, and the great support of our board of directors and staff.
“Working in one place will improve communication and service delivery,” Bucy said.
TLM Associates of Jackson designed the addition and renovations.
NFI Design Builders of Newbern will provide construction services.
Officials expect the project to be completed in about eight months, depending on the weather, according to Bucy.
