UCMS soccer team
meets season’s end

The Union City Middle School soccer team saw its season end Saturday with a 4-2 postseason loss at Crockett County.
Cesar Landeros scored both Tornado goals, one on a penalty kick.
UCMS ended its campaign with a 4-3 record.

TN high school rodeo
scheduled in Martin

The second annual Tennessee High School Rodeo Association will be putting on a rodeo on the UT Martin campus at the Ned McWherter West Tennessee Agricultural Pavilion this weekend.
Rodeo action on Satur-day is set for 2 in the afternoon and 7 in the evening.
A performance is also set for 10 a.m. Sunday.
The National High School Rodeo Association has over 20,000 members from the United States, Canada and Australia.
The THSRA has, on average, about 175 member entries in 10 events.
Girls compete in barrels, pole bending, breakaway roping, team roping and goat tying.
Guys compete in bullriding, bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, team roping, tiedown calf roping and steer wrestling.

UTM softball squad
punches OVC ticket

UT Martin is in the Ohio Valley Conference Softball Tournament again.
The Skyhawks clinched a spot in the OVC tournament — its third consecutive tournament berth and ninth in the past 10 years under the direction of Donley Canary.
UTM gained a spot in the postseason event on Saturday when it defeated host SIU Edwardsville in the second game of a Saturday doubleheader.
The Skyhawks won that game 5-3, but dropped the opener of the three-game series 10-2 in five innings.
UT Martin is now 30-21 on the year and 17-9 in the OVC standings (third place).
SIU Edwardsville is 27-28 overall and 17-10 in the league.
UT Martin is scheduled to welcome Middle Ten-nessee State University to town on Tuesday at Bettye Giles Field in Skyhawk Park.  
The two teams are to play a doubleheader, which is scheduled to begin at 3 (weather permitting).

South Fulton soccer
blanked at Dyer Co.

The South Fulton soccer team lost 10-0 at Dyer County on Friday.
The Red Devils trailed 4-0 at halftime.
With the defeat, SF is now 0-10 on the campaign.
The Red Devils are to play on three occasions this week.
SF is to host Obion Central on Tuesday and entertain McKenzie on Wednesday.
The Red Devils also have a home match on Friday vs. Westview.
In other news pertaining to the local soccer scene, Obion Central’s match with Haywood — originally set for this afternoon — has been postponed until Thursday.
