Several incidents of lawn equipment being stolen have been reported to the Union City Police Department.
Robert Steven Vancil on West Gibbs Street told police he went to the store on Friday at about 2:30 p.m. and when he returned an hour later, he noticed a John Deere™ walk-behind lawn mower and a Poulan™ leaf blower were missing from the garage in the back part of his residence.
Bill Osteen of North Fourth Street informed police he noticed on Saturday morning that someone had broken into his shed overnight and stolen a leaf blower from his shed. The sliding doors, which were still locked, had been forced off their track.
James Randall Workman of North Third Street told police three black males knocked on his door around 1 a.m. Saturday and told him his shed was on fire. He said he grabbed the water hose and put out the fire and then noticed the locked door had been forced open. It was while he was speaking with the officer that he noticed a Weed Eater brand weed eater was missing.
