Devilettes doomed by many miscues

Devilettes doomed by many miscues
Was it because prom was on Saturday?
Or was it the near week-long layoff due to the storms and rainfall that plagued the area last week?
Whatever the case, South Fulton skipper Curt Lee was not satisfied with the manner of his team’s doubleheader defeat to perennial Class 2A State Tournament team Westview on Friday.
According to the Devilettes’ scorebook, the team was guilty of 13 errors in the twinbill as the Lady Chargers prevailed 3-2 in Game 1 and 7-2 in the second contest.
Union City prevailed in Friday’s other game. The Lady Twisters bested West Carroll 6-1.
Today’s slate, which originally had South Fulton at Mayfield and Union City at Lake County, has been wiped off due to the widespread rainfall both this morning and Sunday.
Westview 3-7, SF 2-2
The Lady Chargers needed a pair of extra innings in the twinbill opener, which was set to go just five innings.
Up until the seventh canto, the game had been tied at 2-all.
Both South Fulton and W’view scored their first two runs in the second frame.
SF’s Savannah Larson was 2-for-3, while Kacie Daugherty, Macy Maxwell, Chelsie Pitts and Sam Murray all had one hit.
Pinch runners Melanie Johnson and Sara Reams each scored one run.
Haley McKinney, who pitched the entire seven innings and struck out three, was the losing pitcher.
In the second game, Daugherty and McKinney were both 2-for-3.
Reams — Game 2’s losing pitcher — scored a run as did Desiray Sturgeon.
With the dual defeats, South Fulton is 19-6 on the campaign.
UC 6, West Carroll 1
Sadie Hollis (11-7) fanned seven, allowed but three hits and didn’t walk a batter for the Lady Tornadoes.
The only West Carroll run scored against the UC sophomore hurler was unearned.
Taylor Hargrove tripled and drove in three runs for the Twister girls.
Hollis also aided her own cause with a three-base hit and scored a run.
Union City improved its mark to 17-12 with the victory.
