Obion Central gave its seniors a fitting send-off in the nightcap of Thursday evening’s home finale doubleheader.
OC run-ruled Gibson County 12-2 in said second game of the three-team twinbill.
The loss came after the Lady Rebels fell to perennial Class 2A State Tournament team Westview 4-3 in nine innings during the early game in Troy.
The team’s seniors — Leann Staser, Meaghen Strayhorn, Mandi McDaniel, Madi Bell and Brodie Parrish (manager) — were all introduced in between games.
In other prep softball action on Thursday, Union City swept a doubleheader from Bradford. The Lady Twisters won the opener 10-1 and coasted to a 11-0 victory in the second contest.
Today’s softball slate has Union City hosting West Carroll. Westview hosts South Fulton.

OC 12, Gibson Co. 2
Staser was 3-for-4 with two RBI, while a handful of teammates drove in a pair during Thursday’s 10-run triumph.
Payton Robertson, Carly Whipple, Calli Johnson and Strayhorn — the winning pitcher — all finished with two ribbies.
Of that group, Whipple tripled, while Strayhorn and Robertson both smacked a double.
Also, Bell had one run driven in and McDaniel singled once.
Obion Central (21-11-1, 4-4 in league play) return to action in the upcoming District 13AA Tournament.
Westview 4, OC 3
The Lady Chargers pushed the winning run across the plate in the top of the ninth.
Bell was the lone Lady Rebel with a multi-hit game. She finished 2-for-5, while McDaniel chased in a pair.
Macy Allison was the losing pitcher.
Westview led 3-0 after four innings, but OC charged back with one run in the fifth and a pair in the sixth to tie the contest.
UC 10-11, Bradford 1-0
The Lady Tornadoes got one-hit pitching performances from Brittany Parker and Sadie Hollis to sweep a doubleheader and clinch the No. 3 seed in the upcoming District 14A Tournament.
UC (16-12) will play its first-round postseason game a week from today in double-elimination tourney, to be played at Graham Park.
Parker improved to 6-5 by whiffing 12 Red Devil hitters in Thursday’s opener.
Erica Sturkie had two hits, Hollis scored three times and Angela Chesteen drove in a pair of runs to pace the Twister offense.
Union City was aided by seven Bradford errors in Game 1.
In the nightcap, Hollis notched her 10th pitching victory in a contest called by mutual agreement of the coaches after just three innings.
Hollis recorded six of the nine outs recorded in her three-inning stint via strikeout.
Parker tripled and had three RBIs for the victors in the second game, while Taylor Hargrove had two singles and drove in two runs. Sturkie also accounted for a pair of ribbies, while Kaitlyn Wheeles and Betty Claire Beachum had triples.
Today’s home game with West Carroll is set to begin at 6 p.m.
