According to a report released by Ptl. Guy Pryor of the Martin Police Department, he received a call at 10:58 a.m. on Wednesday in response to marijuana being smoked at 528 Ellis St. Apt. 314 of Chapel Ridge Apartments.
Pryor stated that upon knocking on the door, he could smell the odor of burnt marijuana.
The affidavit stated that he met with a man at the front door of the residence and, after informing him of the purpose of his visit, the man invited Pryor inside the residence and freely gave consent to search the residence of the apartment in which he was living – 314.
Pryor also met with another resident, Karlos Jones, 22, who stated that they had smoked marijuana earlier and gave a consent to search the residence. According to the report, the search of Jones’ room turned up some green plant-like material believed to be marijuana. Additionally, the report stated that some loose green plant-like material was found in the living room area.
After being advised of his Miranda Rights, Jones admitted to ownership of the marijuana in question and the total amount recovered came to 3.7 grams.
The report stated that during the search of Jones’ room, Brandon Springer, 23 – another resident – arrived at the location and gave consent to search his room. The consent search turned up two small bags of green plant-like material believed to be marijuana. It was weighed and found to be 1.9 grams.Both men were transported to MPD and issued criminal summons for simple possession.
