Completed arrangements are being announced for Dorothy Nell (Walker) Crittendon Hicks, 85, of Rives, who died at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin April 26, 2011. Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at White-Ranson Funeral Home, with the Rev. James Kinsey and Larry Hitesman officiating. Burial will follow in Stovall Cemetery near Rives.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home 5-8 p.m. Thursday.
Pallbearers will be Timmy Crittendon, John Worrell, Allen Lyle, Mickey Lyle, Michael Worrell, Nicky Brooks, Dan Baggett, Chase Lyle, Chance Lyle and Drake Walker.
She was born March 15, 1926, in Obion County, daughter of the late Leonard and Vera Louise (Roberts) Walker. She married Brandon Crittendon in 1944. He died Aug. 26, 1974. She then married Henry Hicks in 1977. He survives.
She was a homemaker and a retired employee of Ridgemont School and of the former Rives Elementary School, where she worked in the cafeteria for 12 years. She was a member of Sunswept Baptist Church in Union City.
Survivors also include her son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Kathy Crittendon of Rives; her stepdaughter and son-in-law, Libbye and Robert Hayes of Union City; her stepson, Jimmy Winsett of Rives; her sister, Mildred Turner of Dresden; her grandson, Timmy Crittendon of Rives; 10 step-grandchildren; and several step-great-grandchildren and step-great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her stepdaughter, Mary Ward; and her step-granddaughter, Debbie Davis.
