Opal Kirby, 79, of Hornbeak died April 22, 2011, at her home.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Cryer Funeral Home in Obion, with the Rev. William Matheny officiating. Burial will follow in Cobb’s Chapel Cemetery near Hornbeak.
Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Dewayne Deal, Scott Webb, Michael Hamm, Danial Hodge, Lanny Haynes and Sam Huey. Honorary pallbearer will be Clint Laster.
She was born Jan. 1, 1932, in Hornbeak, daughter of the late Joe Frank and Moshell (Dean) Jerden. She was the widow of Cloyd Kirby and was also preceded in death by her stepmother, Grace (Alexander) Jerden. Mrs. Kirby was a homemaker and a member of Graves Chapel Church of God near Hornbeak.
She is survived by her son, Marty Lynn Kirby of Hornbeak; her daughter, Shelia Gunn of Brighton, Mich.; her daughter-in-law, Carol Kirby Burgess of Howell, Mich.; three grandchildren, Christopher Kirby of Westland, Mich., and William Gunn III and Christy Parsons, both of Brighton; her great-granddaughter, Alyxis Parsons of Brighton; three brothers, Tommy Jerden, Joe Jerden and David Jerden, all of Hornbeak; and five sisters, Marcella Erwin, Linda Jernigan, Shirley Hamm and Marguerite Wilson, all of Hornbeak, and Beverly Coston of Ripley.
She was also preceded in death by her son, Ricky Cloyd Kirby; three daughters, two of whom were stillborn, and Jacklynn Juanne Kirby; and her great-grandson, Jason Kirby.
