Completed arrangements are being announced for James A. “Jim” Cooper Jr., 72, of Florence,  Ala., who died April 19, 2011, at ECM Hospital in Florence after an extended illness. He was the husband of the former Patricia Ann “Trish” Caudle of Union City, who survives.
A memorial service is planned for 11:30 a.m. April 30 at North Wood United Methodist Church in Florence, with the Rev. Wayne Williams officiating. Entombment will be in North Wood United Methodist Church Columbarium.
Visitation will be 10-11:30 a.m. April 30 at the church.
Greenview Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
The family requests that memorials be made to North Wood United Methodist Church, 1129 Wills Ave., Florence, AL 35630 or a favorite charity.
He was an optician before moving to Florence in 2000 and had owned Decatur (Ala.) Optical Dispensary for many years. He was a graduate of Athens State University and a member of North Wood United Methodist Church.
He had been married for 50 years to his wife, Trish, and is also survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Casey and Lorrie Cooper of Huntsville, Ala., and Jay  and Jennifer Cooper of Atlanta; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four sisters; and his brother.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
