Paul Herbert Smith, 89, of Martin, died April 17, 2011 at the Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Martin Church of Christ with Bro. Ricky Phillips officiating. Burial will be in East Side Cemetery with Murphy Funeral Home of Martin in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be at the funeral from 4-8 tonight and at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the services.
Mike Gingras, David Gingras, Tony Kelly, Chris Kelly, Brian Smith, Dustin Smith, Jason Allen and Marcie Moral will serve as pallbearers.
Smith was born Dec. 12, 1921 in Nashville, son of the late Herman and Mamie Lovelace Smith. He was the widower of Georgette Marie Smith. He was a World War II United States Army veteran. a rural mail carrier for the United State Postal Service and a member of Martin Church of Christ.
Survivors include two sons, James Herman Smith of Martin and John “Bo” Smith of Simpsonville, S. C.; four daughters, Mary Frances Gingras, Susan Kelly and Paulette “Molly” Morel, all of Martin and Nancy Allen of Hallowell, Maine; one brother, Joe Smith of Martin; two sisters, Mildred Barber and Dollie Brewer, both of Martin; 12 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas Smith and Melvin Smith; and one grandson, Brent Morel.
