Blue balloons launched to honor children

Children at the TSU Tennessee CAREs Early Head Start on Manley Street in Martin launched blue balloons Thursday morning to take a stand against child abuse.

LAUNCHING THE FIGHT – In honor of the Week of the Young Child, held April 10-16, and April’s being Child Abuse Prevention Awareness month, children at the TSU Tennessee CAREs Early Head Start on Manley Street in Martin launched blue balloons Thursday morning to take a stand against child abuse. Debbie Abel and Jennifer Roney, family advocates at the Carl Perkins Exchange Center, led the launch. The Week of the Young Child is a time to recognize the needs of young children and thank the adults involved in their education and care. In addition to the balloon launch, the children had a full week of events, including guest speakers and a Hawaiian luau and cookout on Friday. The early head start center serves 16 children from ages six weeks through three years in the Martin center.
