| Add ‘All-State’ to Jacob Lloyd’s high school resume. The high-scoring West-view guard who recently committed to Jackson State Community College has been named to the Tennessee Sports Writers Association Class 2A All-State team. Lloyd averaged 19 points, five rebounds and four assists per game while leading the Chargers to 24 victories, the District 13AA Tournament championship and a regional tourney berth. He and Liberty guard Kendall Anthony — a Mr. Basketball finalist and the state tournament MVP after leading the Crusaders to the double-A championship — were the only two rural West Tennessee players to be named to the 17-player glitter unit. In Class 1A, Lake County placed both T.T. Flowers and Rafael Tyler on the respectively all-state girls’ and boys’ squads. Flowers was a Miss Basketball finalist and led the Lady Falcons to the state tournament, while Tyler was the state tourney MVP while leading LC to the single-A championship. Perry County’s Alycia Simmons also made the 1A glitter unit. Liberty’s Keiona Kerby and Ann Jones both were also named to the Class 2A All-State team along with Bolivar standout Kendra Williams Additionally, Humboldt guard Quan Campbell was selected as a member of the Class 1A all-state team. Lloyd scored more than 1,900 career points while starting all four seasons during his Westview prep career. He set a single-game school record with a 52-point outburst vs. Haywood his senior season. The six-foot combo-guard was a multiple all-district selection as a Charger. He also was chosen to play in the third annual TACA/BCAT All Star game in Murfreesboro in March and was the second-leading scorer on his West team that won 133-121. Lloyd will join his brother, Davell, at JSCC. | | | |
