Completed arrangements are being announced for Jimmy Dale “Jim” Evans, 59, of Troy. He died April 15, 2011, at his home.
Services were set for 2 p.m. today at White & Mahon Funeral Home in Troy, with the Rev. James Kinsey officiating. Burial was to follow in Obion Chapel Cemetery near Troy.
Pallbearers were to be Bill Evans, William Evans, Dustin Evans, Bradley Evans, Robert Evans, Waylon Matheny and Sam Stuart. Honorary pallbearers were to be Elaine Baker, Becky Walley, Tammy Evans, LaShaun Evans, Summer Wisdom and Maria Matheny.
He was born May 5, 1951, in Obion County, son of Mary Evelyn (Roberson) Evans of Troy and the late William Dale Evans. He was a logger and a timber cutter and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church near Troy. He had been a member of FFA.
Survivors include two daughters and his son-in-law, Sonja Kay Horton of Rives and Jennifer Jean and David Godwin of Troy; four grandchildren, Whitney Riley of Rives and Kacee Warren, Mason Warren and H.D. Godwin, all of Troy; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Virginia “Ginner” and David Walker of Hornbeak and Phyllis and Larry Matheny and Jettie and Jodie Baldridge, all of Troy; two brothers and his sister-in-law, Bill and Myla Evans and Eddie Evans, all of Troy; his aunt, Doris Sallade of Indianapolis; his uncle, Wilber Evans of Indianapolis; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was also preceded in death by his stepson, Chris Bryant; and his grandparents, Iles and Virgie Mae (Wade) Roberson and William and Jettie (Murray) Evans.
