City of Union City Public Works director Steve Ladd reminds residents that limb and brush crews will pick up trees, limbs and brush for residents who have cut and placed the debris curbside themselves. They will not pick up debris for contractors. Contractors who cut down trees for a city resident are required to haul away all debris they were hired to cut down by the resident.
City residents are also reminded there is an ordinance in effect prohibiting raking, sweeping or dumping leaves, grass clippings and other yard debris into storm drains or gutters. Such action causes the city’s storm sewer system to back up, resulting in flooding of city streets.
The cooperation of residents in these matters is greatly appreciated, he added.
