Completed arrangements are being announced for John William Thomas Scott, 63, of Union City. He died April 13, 2011, at his home.
A memorial service is planned for 10 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with the Rev. Robert Ponticello officiating.
The family will receive friends at the church from 5-8 this evening. There will be a prayer service at 7.
The family requests that memorials be made to Obion County Hometown Walk of Hope or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis.
White-Ranson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
He was born Aug. 27, 1947, in Chattanooga, son of Gordon Lee and Ruth (Campbell) Scott of Union City. He married the former Barbara Barnett Aug. 30, 1969. She survives. He was a chemist for Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. for 34 years and was a U.S. Army veteran. A member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, he was also a member of the American Hosta Society and Jones-Walker Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4862 in Union City.
He is also survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Brittney and Mac Chiles and Cassie and Jack Berry Jr., all of Atlanta; his grandson, Law Chiles of Atlanta; four sisters and his brother-in-law, Linda Lattus of Hickman, Ky., Georgianna Hayes of Jackson, Maria Wade of Smyrna and Denise and Barry McKinnis of Union City; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Steve and Susan Scott of Union City and Phillip and Vickie Scott of Troy; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother, David Scott.
