James Buckley Chapter DAR meets

The James Buckley Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution met in the home of Mary Vowell in Martin.
Brunch was served before the meeting.
Regent Emily Shore called the meeting to order. Chaplain Marilucille Counce led the DAR Ritual. The Pledge to the American Flag was led by Aline Roberts. The American’s Creed was said in unison, as was the Preamble of the Constitution. The group sang “The Star-Spangled Banner.”
Mary Dunavant read the President General’s Message.
Ms. Vowell read the minutes and Mrs. Shore gave the treasurer’s report.
Mrs. Shore reported six lap blankets had been made and will be sent to Memphis Veterans Home. Humboldt Veterans Home will receive the items that were collected at the last meeting.
Mrs. Shore reported members can view “The Tennessee Daughters’ Newsletter,” online.
Several members will attend the 106th Tennessee State DAR Conference in Nashville in May.
The 2011-12 year will begin on July 1 and the membership price will increase.
The James Buckley Cemetery books will be reprinted and sold for $75, plus $5 postage.
Registrar Rita Glover reported on Laura H. Sapps’ papers.
Mrs. Shore gave the program on the schools which are supported by DAR.
The next meeting will be June 13.
