Mrs. Amelia Pearl Johnson, 86, of Dresden, died Saturday, April 9, 2011 at the Hillview Community Living Center, Dresden.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Bowlin Funeral Home Chapel, Dresden with Bro. Kenneth Jesse officiating. Burial was in Carbon Hill Memorial Gardens in Carbon Hill, Ala.
Mrs. Johnson was born Oct. 29, 1924 in Hamilton County, Miss., daughter of the late George and Amelia Rachel Wood Hamilton. She was the widow of John Thomas Johnson. She was a housewife, a Baptist and attended the First Pentecostal Church of God in Gleason.
Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Maggie and Don Self of Dresden and Janie Rachel Sprowes of Gallatin; four sisters, Patsy Hunt of Gleason, Ruby Morris of Dresden, Eva Plunkett of Corinth, Miss. and Eleanor Pigeon of Florida; four brothers, James Hamilton and Duard Hamilton, both of Florida, George Hamilton Jr. of Camden and Reuben Hamilton of Dresden; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one sister, Rae Hay; and one brother, Edward Hamilton.
