Night golf scramble
slated at Wingfoot

The United Way of Obion County will be hosting a four-person night golf scramble on April 30 at the Goodyear Wingfoot Golf Course.
Entry fee is $200 per team and the cost to sponsor a hole is $100.
A discounted price of $250 is available for those wishing to enter a team and sponsor, as well.
Refreshments and dinner will begin at 6:30 p.m. and the scramble is to start shortly thereafter.
The event will be a nine-hole scramble and registrations will be taken the night of the event.

UTM softball squad
is offering camps

The UT Martin softball program will host two summer camps this year at Bettye Giles Field on campus.
The day camp (May 31-June 2) is for ages 6-13 and it will run from 9 a.m. until noon each day.
The cost for the three-day camp is $75 per camper.
An advanced hitting and pitching camp will be offered each of those days from 2-4 p.m. at a cost of $80.
The second softball camp will be held June 14-15.
That camp is for players ages 14 through graduating high school seniors.
Instruction will begin at 9 a.m. each day and end at 3 p.m.
The cost of the camp for older players is $125.

UC alum Chandler
all-tourney at Union

The Union University men’s golf team won the Cumberland University Invitational.
In doing so, the Bulldogs set a school record for its lowest round.
Union shot an opening round 280 — eight under par for a 15-stroke lead — to set the mark.
The Bulldogs finished with a second-round 303 and won the event by eight strokes over the host team.
Bulldogs Brett Barry and Ryan Chandler — a Union City High School product — earned spots on the all-tournament team.
Chandler led Union with a 144, Barry posted a 145, Matt Kelley shot 146, Micah Gentle shot 148 and Steven Coffelt shot 151.

Dartin’ Downtown
is task in Paris 5K

The Paris First United Methodist Church Relay for Life team in conjunction with the Downtown Paris Association is accepting entries for Dartin’ Downtown, 5K walk/run and one-mile fun run set for May 14.
Registration is between 7-7:45 a.m. for the event, which departs from the First United Methodist Church at 8 a.m. and winds around downtown Paris before ending on the courthouse lawn.
Music, food and other activities are planned throughout the morning.
The church is located at 101 East Blythe Street in Paris.
Pre-registration fees are $15 (postmarked no later than May 2) and $20 on race day.
