Several DMS students were able to meet their goal at the close of the Lion Pride Bank program this school year.
Lion Pride Bank, designed to set a framework of basic financial education for fifth through eighth grade students of Dresden Middle School, has ended its 2010 – 2011 banking year. Students that participated in Lion Pride Bank exhibited a great deal of responsibility and goal setting by saving more than $5,730 during the banking year. Students set savings goals and deposit weekly in order to meet those goals.
BancorpSouth is proud to have partnered with Dresden Middle School and congratulates all students who participated in Lion Pride Bank for an outstanding performance. Judy McAlpin, Branch Officer, and Pat Moon, Branch, Vice-President, work with these students reinforcing the need to set goals and to save throughout their lives.
Thirty-eight students celebrated with a pizza party on March 25, when prizes were awarded to those who achieved their savings goal.
Two students were recognized for being consistent savers by making a deposit on all 22 banking days. They were Braden Cooper and Lauren Troutt.
Troutt was the winner of a $50 U.S. Savings Bond. Her name was drawn from the Lion Pride Bankers that deposited on a special banking day from the middle school.
