Fiddlesticks Extravaganza hits Greenfield this week

For the 15th year, the City of Greenfield and Pope’s Concessions and Rides are set to celebrate fiddlesticks with four days of events planned. The family-centered and community-oriented festival will open April 13 and will continue through Saturday on Front Street in the middle block of the downtown area.
This year’s event will be dedicated to the  memory of the late Jimmy Pope.
Carnival rides will open at 3 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and 11 a.m. on Saturday and several events within the festival are planned including:
• 5K run/walk Saturday with registration at 7:30 a.m. and event start at 8 a.m.
Pre-registration is $15 and $20 the day of the race. Participants can register at Greenfield Family Care Clinic on Hwy 45 South and all proceeds will go to Jimmy’s Pals Relay for Life Team. Awards will be given to winners.
• All county worship service and gospel singing on Wednesday.
• Nightly karaoke and entertainment at 7 p.m.
• Turner® ice cream contest at 2 p.m. Saturday.
• Fire truck rides from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
• Predator monster truck rides Wednesday through Saturday with tickets being sold for $5 each.
Visitors to the festival are encouraged to take a few minutes and learn about the famous ice cream treats or fiddlesticks that have been made for three generations in Greenfield and West Tennessee.
“This is my way of giving back to the community,” James Roy Pope of Pope’s Concessions remarked.
