County meeting set Posted: Friday, April 8, 2011 1:10 pm The Messenger, April 8, 2011 The Obion County Legislative Body will meet 9 a.m. April 18 at the Obion County Courthouse circuit courtroom in Union City. Items on the agenda include the approval of minutes from the March 2011 meeting; a resolution regarding property owned by a charitable organization for low income housing; a request of support for the funding of an extension agent with the cost to be shared by Obion, Dyer and Gibson counties; a resolution to amend the County General Fund ($16,473); the appointment of a reapportionment committee to include four county commissioners, a school board member, a highway board member, Leigh Schlager as a representative of the Obion County Election Commission and Obion County Mayor Benny McGuire; a discussion concerning commissioner districts; the appointment of two additional members to the insurance committee; and the approval of Notary Public applications. Also considered will be appointments to the following boards and committees for the May 2011 term: • Library Board — now serving Brenda Baker; • Regional Library Board — Obion County representative is Mike Cox; • Nursing Home Board — now serving are Janis Lacewell, Dr. Bobby Williams, Tracey Batey, Earnest Daniels, Timmy Gant, Terry Council and Sonny Yarbrough; • West Tennessee Railroad Authority — now serving are Art Chivers and McGuire.
