Easter program set
“The Borrowed Tomb,” an Easter drama/musical by Steve Moore and David Clydesdale, will be presented by the Calvary Baptist Church choir on East Reelfoot Avenue in Union City Sunday beginning at 10:30 a.m. The choir is under the direction of the Rev. Luke Parker, minister of music at Calvary. Written from the perspective of Nicodemus and Joseph of Arimathea, “The Borrowed Tomb” is the story of the all-too human struggle to believe that Jesus truly was — and is — the long-awaited Messiah. It is a profoundly relevant message for a modern day society faced with the very same choice of a personal faith in Christ. The community is invited to attend.
The Rev. Melvin Poe is the pastor.

Usher Day slated
Bells Chapel CME Church at 207 North Highland Drive in Fulton will sponsor the annual Usher Day Sunday at 3 p.m. Evangelist Loretha Winters of Turning Point Ministries in Hickman, Ky., will be the guest speaker. Elder Martha Granger is pastor. The community is invited to attend.

To celebrate homecoming
Protemus Cumberland Presbyterian Church at 2033 West Shawtown Road in the Shawtown community will host homecoming services Sunday, with worship at 10 a.m. There will be special music with Blessed Assurance at 11 and a potluck meal at noon. The Rev. James Gunter and the congregation invite the community to attend.

Special service set
“Promise to Return,” a resurrection presentation, and the Lord’s Supper will be observed at Shepherd’s Field Church at 500 Fowler Road in Martin April 22 and 24 at 6 p.m.

Donations sought
Area residents interested in donating funds for a 24-hour House of Prayer fasting ground at Reelfoot Lake may send donations to Nancy Bell at 31 Warren Road, Newbern, TN 38059 or contact her at (731) 445-2267.

Appreciation service set
Greater Bethel Church of God in Christ, located at 805 East Gibbs St. in Union City, will celebrate 15 years of service by the pastor and his wife, Elder Richard and Florence Johnson, Saturday and Sunday.
On Saturday evening at 6, the congregation will host a banquet at Another Thyme, located at 316 North First St. in Union City. For tickets, contact Clarissa Youngblood at 885-2197, Monica Richards at 886-3698 or Christy Fulton at 592-8535.
On Sunday, a special appreciation service is planned at 3:30 p.m. at the church. The speaker will be Dr. Jessie L.O. Webb.  Special guests will be his congregation from Brooks Chapel Church in  Fulton.
The community is invited to attend.

Egg hunt planned
Mt. Ararat Cumberland Presbyterian Church near Troy will host a community-wide Easter Egg-Stravaganza April 23 at noon at the church’s gazebo. The event will be moved indoors in the event of rain.
The activities will also include a “Jump-a-Rama” and other surprises, with prizes and games on tap, as well.
“Come join us as we celebrate the greatest miracle of all, Christ’s resurrection,” a spokesman said.

Tent revival slated
There will be a tent revival Monday through April 15 at 7 each evening on the church grounds behind Mt. Zion CME Church on the corner of College and Greenwood streets in Union City. Elders C.M. Clayborn and Howard Boswell, both of Hayti, Mo., will join the congregation’s pastor, the Rev. Darrell Turner, in bringing the messages. The community is invited to attend.

Revival to begin
Beech Cumberland Presbyterian Church, located at 880 Beech Chapel Road near Union City, will begin revival services at 5 p.m. Sunday. Food and fellowship will follow. Monday night will be “Friend Night,” with services at 7. Tuesday will be “Pew-Packing Night” at 7 and Wednesday will focus on “Family Night” at 7. There will be special music each evening.
The Rev. James Gunter, pastor of Protemus Cumberland Presbyterian Church, will be the evangelist.
Dr. Bobby Williams and the congregation invite the community to attend.

To celebrate anniversary
Bashan Baptist Church in Rives will celebrate the church’s anniversary Sunday with a special program at 2:30 p.m. The Rev. Paul Jenkins of Miles Chapel Church in Martin will be the speaker. Lunch will be served as soon as guests arrive after morning worship.
The Rev. Rozelle Dotstry is the pastor.

Pre-anniversary event set
Members of Church of Jesus for All are hosting a pre-anniversary celebration, leading up to the pastor’s anniversary, Saturday at 6 p.m. The Rev. Dorothy Byars of LaCenter, Ky., will be the speaker, under the leadership of D.L. Cole, pastor of Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church in Paducah, Ky.
The community is invited to attend. The church is located at 817 East Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in Union City. The Rev. Harry Hayes is pastor.

P.W.T. service slated
United Church of the Living God, located at 609 Martin Luther King Drive in Fulton, will host a Praise-Worship-Testimony service Sunday at 3 p.m.
The pastor, Elder Margaret Pettigrew, and the assistant pastor, Elder Betty Gordon, invite the community to attend.

Rev. Camp to speak
The Rev. Annetta O’Dell Camp, minister of Chris-tian Education of First Cum-berland Presby-terian Church, Dyers-burg, since June 1, 2003, will be the speaker Sunday at Union City Cumberland Presbyterian Church at 631 East Church St.
Morning worship is at 10:55 a.m.
She graduated from the former Memphis State University in 1975 and taught special education for 28 years in Tennessee and Florida.
A fourth-generation elder in the Cumberland Presbyterian church, she heard the call to ordained ministry in the summer of 2002 and received a master of divinity degree at Memphis Theological Seminary in December 2007.
She was ordained and installed as associate pastor of the Dyersburg church March 9, 2008.
Widowed in November 2009, the Rev. Camp has two adult sons and lives on her family farm just south of Dyer County.
Her sermon title will be “The Spirit-Driven Life” and she will use Romans 8:1-11 as her text.
 In addition, she will be serving Holy Communion.
