Official touts electric vehicles

PARIS (AP) — A utility official in Paris says Tennessee is at the forefront of embracing electric cars.
Pete Lackey, a member of the Paris Board of Public Utilities, also is general manager of a Nissan dealership that just installed a charging port for electric cars.
According to The Paris Post-Intelligencer, Lackey said such charging ports will become widespread as electric cars become more popular. He said the recent earthquake in Japan has thwarted shipping of such cars.
