Bill D. Hatley, 66, of Chase City, Va., formerly of Obion County, died April 2, 2011, at Henrico Doctors’ Hospital in Richmond, Va. He was the father of Chris Menees of Woodland Mills.
Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Salem Christian Church in Fort Mitchell, Va., with interment to follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the church from noon until the service hour Tuesday.
Wood Funeral Service in Chase City is in charge of arrangements.
He was born June 1, 1944, in southern Illinois, son of the late Charles and Lucille (Loos) Hatley. He married the former Darla Jean Hetherington on Aug. 20, 1964. She survives.
A U.S. Air Force veteran, he was retired from the Virginia Department of Corrections.
He was licensed to the gospel ministry in 1978 and was serving as pastor of Salem Christian Church. He formerly pastored churches in Illinois, Missouri and Tennessee, including Aldridge Baptist Church near Obion for a period of time in the mid-1980s. He and his wife relocated to Virginia in the late 1980s.
Survivors also include a son and daughter-in-law, Timothy and Sharon Hatley of Chase City; a granddaughter, Abigail Hatley of Chase City; a son-in-law, Tom Menees of Woodland Mills; two sisters, Charlene Spier of Dupo, Ill., and Ellen Collins of Swansea, Ill.; and a brother, Robert Hatley of Dupo.
He was also preceded in death by an infant son, Danny Hatley; and a sister, Willa Besancon.
