The Union City Middle School boys’ track team picked up where it left off.
The reigning West Tennessee Athletic Conference champion squad won a tri-meet at Dyersburg in its first outing of the spring.
All totaled, the UCMS boys had 89 points to set the pace over second-place Brighton (38 tallies) and the host Trojans (22 points).
On the girls’ side, Union City was in the middle of the field and within striking distance of a win.
The Lady Twisters claimed second with 49 total points — 11 back of meet victor Brighton and five ahead of third-place Dyersburg.
The Twister boys swept all of the relays action at D’burg’s track.
Jacob Hyde, Malachi Kidd, Channing Green and Alex Reid teamed to claim first in both the 400 and 800-meter team races.
Meanwhile, Brantley Clendenin, Knox Faulkner, Cody Easley and Donte Simpson combined for a win in the mile-relay, while Tavaris Thompson, Jalen Ware, Carlos Easley and Marcus Deberry comprised the two-mile champion squad.
Solo running action had Hyde (100 meters), Reid (200 meters) and Simpson (400 meters) as winners in those respective races.
Additionally, Kidd was second in the 200-meters, while Carlos Easley claimed a like spot in the 800 and Deberry was third in that run.
Clendenin also placed — at third — in the 110-meter hurdles.
In distance running, UCMS’ Tripp Conley claimed two medals — a silver in the two-mile and a bronze in the one-mile, while Sam Guess was third in the one-mile distance run.
Field event action had Kidd as the long jump winner with Hyde third in the event.
Simpson triumphed in the high jump, while Deberry was third.
Also, Kane Taylor and Jamie Pirtle finished 1-2 in both the shot put and discus throws.
On the girls’ side, Kealie Reeves won the 100- and 200-meter races, while Prasha Fair was third in the former and second in the latter.
Destiny Henry also placed for the Lady Twisters — in second —during the 100-meter hurdles.
Reeves, Fair, Chynia Hyde and Parks combined for a UCMS triumph in the one-mile relay, while Hyde, Parks, Skye Mackins and Charity Henry claimed third in the 400-meter team race.
Megan Hightower, Millie Critchlow, Morgan Rodgers and Garrow Miles combined for third in the one-mile relay.
Mackins also earned third place in the mile run.
Girls’ field event action had Dyamond McCadney at first in the discus hurl and second in the shot put throw.
Lady Twister D’leshae Olds won the SP, while Kaleighn White got first in the long jump and Kalia Fowler earned second in the high jump.
