• Water — 1 gallon per person per day
• First Aid kit
• Food — canned or individually packaged and requiring minimum heat and water, with appropriate supplies for infants and pets
• Manually operated can opener
• Blankets
• Radio — portable and battery operated with spare batteries
• Fire extinguisher — dry chemical, type ABC
• Barbecue grill — charcoal or Sterno stove
• Plastic bags — various sizes, sealable
• Pots — at least two
• Toilet paper
• Matches — dipped in wax and stored in waterproof container
• Knife or razor blades
• Crescent wrench — for turning off gas main
