Plans made to commence the 150th Battle of Shiloh

SAVANNAH — The Armies of Tennessee, Hardin County Convention and Visitors Bureau and Hardin County Chamber of Commerce have planned a 150th commencement ceremony for 2 p.m. on April 9 at the historic Cherry Mansion in Savannah.
This event will officially begin the year-long activities leading up to the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Shiloh.
Local and state officials and legislators will read proclamations and give comments on the remembrance of the Battle of Shiloh, the role it played in Hardin County history and the battlefield preservation that welcomes visitors from around the world to its grounds.
“There are many activities and events being planned during the next year for the commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Shiloh,” said tourism director Rachel Baker.
Re-enactors from the Armies of Tennessee will host encampments on the grounds of Cherry Mansion from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Special music will be provided by Wayne Jerrolds during the ceremony.
