The Greenfield girls’ tennis team has bragging rights in Weakley County.

The Lady Yellowjackets bested WC’s only other tennis playing school — Westview — via a 7-0 margin at the UT Martin courts on Monday.

W’view was short-handed on Monday afternoon with only three players present as numerous players were out for extracurricular activities.

G’field also downed the Lady Charger tennis team on Thursday with a 6-1 triumph.

Meanwhile, Greenfield also began its district slate with a bang on Wednesday.

The Lady ’Jackets bested Camden 6-1 to claim their first 13A-AA triumph of the campaign.

With the trio of triumphs, the G’field tennis girls are now 5-0 on the campaign. Westview is 1-4 on the campaign.

“I’m proud of the these girls and the fact that they’re 5-0,” Greenfield co-head coach Bill McCall said.

On Monday, top Lady ’Jacket Emily Allenblanked Westview’s No. 1 seed Cara Burnham 8-0.

Greenfield’s Taylor Hatcher prevailed 8-0 over Lady Charger Ashley Gross and Kendal Cook bested Laura Ferrer 8-1 in the other singles battle

Lady Yellowjackets Kaylee Kesterson and Lauren Rush both were awarded singles triumphs by way of forfeit.

In doubles play, Kesterson and Allen bettered Burnham and Gross 8-3. Greenfield’s duo of Hatcher and Cook claimed a forfeit triumph.

“It was tough,” Charger tennis coach Chad Johnson said. “Our girls were playing out of their normal spot, but still giving their all.”

On Thursday, Allen rolled to an 8-2 triumph over Burnham, while Kesterson and fifth-seed Rush claimed wins over the respective Westview opposition of Madison Williams and Ferrer by a like 8-0 final.

In the batle of No. 3 seeds, Greenfield’s Cook doubled Gross 8-4.

The lone W’view triumph came at the second seed where Melissa Darroch bested Taylor Hatcher 8-2.

Doubles play on Thursday had Allen and Kesteron as 8-5 winners over Burnham and Darroch.

Hatcher and Cook blanked Ferrer and Williams 8-0.

On Wednesday, Allen and Hatcher bested the respective opposition of Kristen Ragan and Hayley Hayes via an 8-5 margin.

Meanwhile, Cook quadrupled Cindy Young 8-2 and Kesterson routed Erin Wheatley 8-1.

The lone Greenfield defeat of the afternoon was an 8-0 defeat as Rush fell to Lindsey Wambles.

In duos action, Allen and Kesterson teamed to better Ragan and Hayes 8-2, while Hatcher and Cook doubled Wambles and Young 8-4.

The Greenfield girls travel to Camden next Monday.

Westview hosts Gibson County the same afternoon.
