Fulton First United Methodist Church is teaming up with the Central UnitedStates Earthquake Consortium in Memphis to bring awareness to those in the Twin-Cities area as well as surrounding counties. On Wednesday, March 30, Brian Blake, Earthquake Program Coordinator, will travel from Memphis to speak on “Earthquake Hazards and Preparedness.”  His message will include what kinds of hazards we see from earthquakes and what people should do in an earthquake.

This meeting will increase participants’ level of earthquake preparedness for themselves and their families. All homeowners, business owners, faith based organizations and citizens are invited to attend. The earthquake presentation will start at 6 p.m. in the Fulton First Methodist Church, Fulton, Ky., in the Fellowship Hall. Please use the Second Street entrance.

Everyone is invited to attend. There is no cost.

The New Madrid Seismic Zone, sometimes called the New Madrid Fault is a major seismic zone and may have the potential to produce large earthquakes in the future. West Kentucky and West Tennessee are two of the seven states that are potentially threatened.
