Completed arrangements are being announced for Farris Austin, 91, of Union City, who died March 28, 2011, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home in Newbern, with the Rev. Terry English officiating. Burial will follow there in Fairview Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the hour of services Wednesday.
Pallbearers will be Chris Young, Gary Austin, Alan Jordan, Danny McDonald, Mike Miller and Charles Radford. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Peevyhouse, Sharon Peevy-house, Sonny Yarbrough and Bobby Huffstutter.
The family requests that memorials be made to Obion United Methodist Church, 225 West Main St., Obion, TN 38240.
He was a retired business owner in Dyer and Obion counties and had been a member of Obion United Methodist Church. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of the American Legion and of Trimble Lions Club.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Mackey and Sandy Austin of Union City; his grandson, Jacob Austin; five nieces, Nita Dunivant, Nelda Doss, Nina Hepburn, Denise Coleman and Paulette Keltner; three nephews, Charles Radford, David Radford and Kevin Radford; and his brother and sister-in-law, Mack and Margaret Radford.
He was preceded in death by his parents, R.C. and Vivian (Smith) Austin; his wife, Gayle R. Austin; his daughter, Marcia Austin; and his grandson, Alan Yarbrough.
