Tennessee Business and Professional Women and the Tennessee Technology Centers are partnering to offer women in West Tennessee information on career opportunities available to them in non-traditional/green jobs.
A “Break the Barriers That Limit Your Career Choices” forum is scheduled for March 25 at the Tennessee Technology Center in Jackson, located at 2468 Technology Center Drive. The forum is free to the public.
The keynote speaker will be state Sen. Delores Gresham, who chairs the Senate’s education committee. She will be followed by Haywood County Mayor Franklin Smith, who will give an update on his county’s megasite. Assistant Vice Chancellor of Instruction with the Tennessee Technology Centers Chelle Travis of Nashville will speak to the group concerning educational training programs that are available and forthcoming.
“The key to breaking the barriers is education and training, and we hope to present those opportunities to the people attending,” said forum chairman Carolyn Beverly, assistant director of the Tennessee Technology Center in Whiteville.
“Our motto is ‘Don’t Limit Your Career Choices,’ ” she said.
The education panel provides information from representatives from across the state, from technology centers and from Jackson State Community College.
