Clara Shaw Morris

Mrs. Clara Shaw Morris, 74, of Dresden, died Sunday, March 20, 2011 at the Volunteer Community Hospital, Martin.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bowlin Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Don McCulley officiating. Burial was in Sunset Cemetery.

Tyler Morris, Logan Morris, Cody Anderson, Alex Joyner, Mike Story and Sam Gregory served as pallbearers.

 Mrs. Morris was born Jan. 5, 1937 in Samburg, daughter of the late Cloyd “Sharpie” and Willie Davis Shaw. She was a retired book warehouse supervisor for World Color and a member of Paris First Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Kim Joyner of Paris, Charlotte and Mike Ryan of Greenbriar; two sons and one daughter-in-law, David Morris of Trenton, Michael and Vickie Story of White House; one brother and sister-in-law, Claude and Jane Shaw of Winchester, Ky.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Jere C. Pence

Jere C. Pence, 82, of Greenfield, died Thursday, March 17, 2011 at the Volunteer Community Hospital, Martin.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Meridian Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Greenfield with Bennie Hopper and Keith Pence officiating. Williams Funeral Home of Greenfield was in charge of the arrangements.

Andy Pence, Dakota Pence, Joshua Suddath, Justin Suddath, Brad White, Kegan Reilly and Chris Morris served as pallbearers.

Pence was born Sept. 15, 1928 in Greenfield, son of the late Kegan and Annie Galey Reilly. He worked as a business manager and attended Meridian Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Nellie Wheeler Pence of Greenfield; two sons, Jere C. Pence of Greenfield and Keith Pence of Gleason; two daughters, Betty White of Sidonia and Kathy Suddath of Gleason; one brother, Kenneth Pence of Trenton; one sister, Carolyn Mullins of Greenfield; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
