Lerion “Moss” Batts, 80, of South Fulton died March 23, 2011, at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Hornbeak Funeral Home in Fulton, with the Rev. Mike Hazlewood officiating. Burial will follow in Clark Cemetery in Hickman County, Ky.
Friends may call at the funeral home 5-8 p.m. today and on Friday from 8 a.m. until the hour of services.
The family requests that memorials be made to American Cancer Society, 302 Carr St., Fulton, KY 42041.
He was born Aug. 29, 1930, in Hickman County, Ky., son of the late Vester and Eunice (Jackson) Batts. He was the widower of Ivanell (Crittendon) Batts and Lana Jo (Counce) Batts. He is survived by his wife, Teena (Pollard) Batts, whom he married Sept. 5, 1987. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and had lived in this area all his life.
He was a member of South Fulton Baptist Church and was a self-employed truck driver.
Survivors also include six sons and three daughters-in-law, Richard Batts of Union City and Anthony Batts, Allen and Bonnie Batts, Jimmy and Michelle Daniels, Ricky Daniels and Tim and Amy Kopriva, all of South Fulton; two daughters and his son-in-law, Rose and Ricky Smith of Union City and Kimberly Batts of South Fulton; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and his brother, William Batts of Clinton, Ky.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Gerald Batts and Charles Batts; and his sister, Shirley Evans.
