James Earnest Elam, 68, of Mayfield, Ky., a former resident of Fulton, died March 21, 2011, at Green Acres Healthcare in Mayfield.
Graveside services were set for 2 p.m. today at Pleasant View Memorial Gardens in Fulton, with Hornbeak Funeral Home in Fulton in charge of arrangements.
There will be no visitation.
He was born Dec. 19, 1942, in Weakley County, son of the late Raymond and Mary Elva (Yates) Elam. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and was a Baptist and a former member of the American Legion. He was named a Kentucky Colonel in 1995.
Survivors include two sisters, Frances Davis and Linda Steele, both of Mayfield; two brothers, Robert H. Elam of Fulton and Ray Edward Elam of Wingo, Ky.; and three nieces, his nephew, his great niece and two great nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Howard Elam.
