The Gleason baseball team got a mixed bag from its pair of outings against Obion County squads last week.
The Bulldogs bested double-A entry Obion Central 4-1 on Tuesday, but fell by a 12-4 margin to former district foe South Fulton on Wednesday.
Gleason returned to the diamond Monday afternoon at Bruceton.
The Bulldogs will host Clarksburg today.
The following is a roundup of Gleason’s games against OC and SF from last week.
Gleason 4, OC 1
Bulldog pitcher Thomas Fowler held Central at bay, allowing just two hits and striking out three in the team’s triumph.
Offensively, Austin Sullivan drove in a pair and doubled.
Chase Ezell and Cole Verdell each also accounted for one Gleason ribbie, while Gabe Lowrance, Conner Verdell, Cole Verdell and Kyle Williams each scored once.
SF 12, Gleason 4
Six Bulldog errors certainly helped to open the door for South Fulton to prevail at Mike Snider Park.
Meanwhile, SF was flawless defensively with zero miscues.
The game was tied at 4-all until the top of the fifth, when the Red Devils struck for five runs.
Hunter Morse had two RBI for the Bulldogs, while Conner Verdell and Sullivan both had a pair of singles.
Ezell, Blake Taylor and Fowler each scored once as did Conner Verdell.
Lowrance was the losing pitcher against the Red Devils.
He went the first nearly five innings and struck out six. Lowrance came out of the game with his pitch count just under 100 for the contest.
Taylor came on in relief and pitched the remainder of the game. Taylor struck out one and allowed just one hit.
