Josie Katherine Jones, 87, of Union City died March 18, 2011, at Golden Living Center in Union City.
Services were set for 1 p.m. today at Sunswept Baptist Church in Union City, with the Rev. James Kinsey, Larry Hitesman and the Rev. Larry Black officiating. Burial was to follow in Hickman (Ky.) City Cemetery.
White-Ranson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were to be Todd Jones, Jamie Jones, Alan Lorentz, Courtney Hill, Robert Powell and Michael Brooks.
The family requests that memorials be made to the American Heart Association or the National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd St., New York, NY 10016.
She was born May 29, 1923, in Obion County, daughter of the late Walter and Beulah (Watts) Bynum. She married John L. Jones Oct. 5, 1940. He died July 19, 1979. She was a retired employee of the former HIS Co. in South Fulton, where she worked for 25 years, and was a member of Sunswept Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Seniors of Sunswept adult organization.
She is survived by two sons and her daughter-in-law, Joe and Grawnea McGrail of News Bern, N.C., and Louis Jones of Madison, Ala.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Opal and Danny Jones of Union City and Margaret and Larry Black of Madison Heights, Va.; 11 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her grandson, Louis Jones Jr.; her daughter-in-law, Betty June Jones; five brothers, Ernest Bynum, Bernest Bynum, Clifford Bynum, Louis Bynum and Wayne Bynum; and her sister, Pearline Merrell.
