The Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse and its advisory board members are busy gathering auction items and selling tickets for the annual event that is the largest fundraiser for the center serving two counties.
In the spirit of celebrating the children, this year’s “Taste of Weakley and Obion Counties” Gala and Auction will feature a “Southwestern Fiesta” theme.
Guests are welcome to dress in the spirit of “fiesta” and don sombreros and brightly-colored clothing for the event.
This year’s Gala and Auction is set for Saturday, April 9 beginning at 5:30 p.m. Volunteer Distributing Company, just outside of Dresden, will once again serve as this year’s host for the event.
More than 25 Weakley and Obion county restaurants will line the interior walls of the building and feature their specialties from appetizers and fruit to entrees and desserts. Guests can dine on a variety of culinary delights that evening while they admire the silent and live auction items donated by local businesses.
Fiesta-style music will be heard in the background as guests mix and mingle.
Individual tickets are $25 each. Table sponsorships range from $250 for a party of eight to $1,000, which helps sponsor one family from Weakley or Obion counties. To sponsor a local child, the cost is $600 for a table of eight.
Businesses and sponsors of the event will be recognized in the gala program and during the “Southwestern Fiesta.”
Door prizes will also be given away throughout the evening.
Items large and small are being accepted right now as board members and volunteers go door-to-door soliciting prizes and auction items.
