Hunter Hynds Unit meets

The Hunter Hynds Unit of the United Methodist Women held its March meeting at Stanley Chapel United Methodist Church with 12 members present.
President Chris Cheatham welcomed everyone and lead in prayer after many prayer requests and concerns were spoken. Everyone recited the Purpose, which was followed by the reading of the minutes by Emily Haynes and the treasurer’s report by Leanne Parnell.
Sandra McTurner presented the prayer calendar followed by readings from Matthew 6:2-6 and 16-21. Serena Blanton read a prayer entitled “Ash Wednesday.”
Kathy Forrester announced an event to raise money for Agape House to be held April 9 at 6 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall at Second Baptist Church in Union City and invited anyone who is interested to sit at a table that she is hosting. The speaker for the event will be Dr. Bruce Wilkinson, the author of “The Prayer of Jabez.”
Christ Cheatham and Jerry Darnell represented the unit at a recent study on the Sudan presented by Beth Brown at Fulton United Methodist Church.
Leanne Parnell summarized Chapter 5 entitled “Predicament, Privileges and Providence,” from Esther: A Woman of Faith.” Linda Winstead will present Chapter 6 in April.
Mrs. Chris Cheatham led the program covering Ash Wednesday. The focal point was an impressive display of a silver tray holding a framed cross with the “Serenity Prayer” and ashes symbolic of the occasion.
Other participants were Roberta Peacock, Jerry Darnell and Linda Winstead with Biblical readings, an Ash Wednesday Day poem and a responsive reading were used.
The next meeting will be April 13 at 7 p.m. at Stanley’s Chapel.
