A.W. “Avery” Roddy, 86, of Newbern died March 14, 2011, at Dyersburg Medical Center.
Services will be 11 a.m. Sunday at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home in Newbern, with the Revs. David VanWyk and Matthew Lucio officiating. Burial will follow in Zion Cemetery in the Elbridge community. Pallbearers will be Chuck Erickson, Kirk Krueger, Chip Warren, Ritchie Cherry, Roddy Scarbrough and Brian Strader.
The family requests that memorials be made to Zion Cemetery Fund in care of Greg Ervin, 4893 Jim Carver Road, Obion, TN 38240.
Friends may call at the funeral home 5-8 p.m. Saturday.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a member of Seventh Day Adventist Church of Dyersburg. He was the retired owner of Newbern Feed & Supply and was also a retired truck driver.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Bob Strader of Orange City, Fla.; his son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Deborah Roddy of Lane; his brother, Eugene Roddy of Lane; four grandchildren, Tammy Hey, Leslile Marbrey, Matthew Roddy and Brian Strader; eight great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jennie Madeline (Mojkowski) Roddy; his parents, Bonnie (Wade) and A.W. Roddy Sr.; his sister, Maurine Lippard; and two brothers, James Roddy and Harold Roddy.
