Weakley County AARP Chapter #3392 met on Wednesday, Feb. 16 in the fellowship hall of the First United Methodist Church in Martin.Fourteen members were present. Hostesses were Mrs. Gladys Hailey and Mrs. Jerry Seamans.
Chapter President Mary Elizabeth Bell opened the meeting with a hearty welcome and read “Somebody Loves You.” We took care of the chapter business. Treasurer Jerry Seamans accepted donations to the American Heart Association.Chapter Second Vice President Woodrow Collier introduced our speaker, Mr. David McBride, administrator of the Weakley County Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Dresden. Mr. McBride told us about the different kinds of therapy and rehab offered at the facility in addition to the nursing home care. He also gave the history of the facility as well as up-to-date information.Our next chapter meeting is scheduled for March 16 at 9:30 a.m. for fellowship and refreshments, and the business meeting to begin at 10 a.m. (same meeting place). Mrs. Hycinth Smith and Mrs. Mary Kate Bell volunteered to be the hostesses. Scheduled guest speaker is Col. Bob Smith, who is a contributing writer to the Weakley County Press newspaper. Everyone is invited to attend our local AARP chapter meetings.
