A local resident has reported a scam that readers should be aware of. The resident received an official looking envelope recently that included what purported to be an “Award Notification Commission Official Paperwork judging sheet.” The recipient was notified that he could claim his prize of up to $2 million and detailed ways the money could be paid to the lucky winner. The information stated that the completion of the “judging sheet” was mandatory for the recipient to claim his money. In addition, he would be required to pay a “premium offer acquisition fee” of $11.89 by cash, check or money order.
A return envelope addressed to “Final Judging Division” in Kansas City, Kan., was included with the mailing.
Local readers are reminded to beware such “prize notifications” which require the payment of any fees or the providing of any personal information.
