Dyersburg State Community College’s Theatre Department has announced the cast for its upcoming spring production of “The Boys Next Door” by Tom Griffin.
The play is slated to be presented March 31 to April 2 at 7:30 nightly in the First Citizens National Bank Auditorium in the Campus Activities Building on the Dyersburg campus.
An Off-Broadway success, “The Boys Next Door” is a very funny yet very touching play that focuses on the lives of four mentally challenged men who live in a communal residence under the watchful eye of their sincere, but increasingly unsatisfied, social worker.
While the play is marked by compassion and understanding, it is also overflowing with laughter — laughter celebrating the unique relationships and the everyday mayhem which ensues as a result of conflict among the men and the others who pass through their little world.
Among those who will lead the Dyersburg State cast are Shawn Gilbreath of Dyersburg as Arnold Wiggins, Bobby Solmon of Dyersburg as Norman Bulanski, Kadeem Riley of Dyersburg as Lucien P. Smith, Drew Dellinger of Union City as Barry Klemper and Joel Enochs of Dyersburg as Jack Palmer.
Rounding out the cast are Tess Sparkman of Dyersburg as Mrs. Fremus, Bill Parmenter of Dyersburg as Mr. Hedges, Tracie Langley of Halls as Mrs. Warren, Hannah Evans of Newbern as Sheila, Clint Vickery of Halls as Mr. Corbin, Ashley Marshall of Union City as Clara, Ken Jones of Dyersburg as Mr. Klemper and Mary Kathryn Day of Dyersburg, formerly of Crockett County, as Senator Clark.
The admission price, available at the door, will be $4 each for students, faculty and staff and senior citizens and $6 each for all others. Seating is limited.
